A Girl’s Guide to Puberty and Periods was developed by experts in child health and development alongside young people from across the USA, who told us what answers and information they needed about body changes, first periods, self care, and menstruation.

We also spoke to adults in adolescent girls’ lives, like teachers, social workers, healthcare workers, coaches, and parents, to learn what they worry about and what they feel young people should learn.

We created this resource for anyone who has a teen or tween in their life, with the hope that it will help them feel more confident and knowledgeable about their changing bodies and that the adults who support them might feel more comfortable talking about puberty and periods.

Chapters in the Guide include, “Body Changes”, “Caring for Your Body” and “What’s a Period All About?” as well as “My First Period Stories” written by diverse young women who chose to share their experiences to help other girls to empower other young people to learn about their growing bodies.
